It's fascinating to see what beer companies thought of their target audiences, and for some of these same companies today, not much has changed. There is an overwhelming "machismo" attached to these: women serving men beer, women cooking dinner, men chopping trees and catching mythical-sized fish, etc.
However, some of these ads were clearly aimed at having beer be part of a nostalgic (outdoor) experience, or better when shared among friends, or to make the list of chores a bit more bearable.
