Vintage Beer Ads

There is a very cool website, Vintage Ad Browser, that contains over 123,000 vintage ads on it. Perusing it can make for a fun afternoon. We sat down and did some digging of vintage beer ads and there are over 1,900 on the site (unfortunately, we didn't find any from Montana-specific breweries on the site).

It's fascinating to see what beer companies thought of their target audiences, and for some of these same companies today, not much has changed. There is an overwhelming "machismo" attached to these: women serving men beer, women cooking dinner, men chopping trees and catching mythical-sized fish, etc.

However, some of these ads were clearly aimed at having beer be part of a nostalgic (outdoor) experience, or better when shared among friends, or to make the list of chores a bit more bearable.

Let us know what you think of these.

For another fun afternoon, check out the 87 vintage ads for Montana!
