Montana Third in Beer Consumption, July 4 Big for Beer Sales
As we celebrate our nation's independence tomorrow, The Beer Institute would like to remind us of two things. First, beer is big business on July 4. In fact, it's the "Black Friday" of beer shopping. Beer sales is expected to top more than $1 billion total, making it the single largest sales day for beer.
According to The Beer Institute, 99 million adults enjoy beer responsibly on July 4, which is more people than those who celebrate with wine or hard liquor.
Furthermore, the Institute just released its state list of beer consumption, and yep, Montana is up there. We rank #3 in the nation for beer consumption, consuming, on average, 41 gallons per adult per year, just behind North Dakota and New Hampshire. It's proposed that ND got top honors because of the influx of young adults in the state who are working in the oil fields. So what's our excuse? Montanans just love beer! We don't need an excuse!
